Communicating With Your Baby in Utero

The idea of talking to your baby before they are born might feel a little awkward. That’s okay- there is more than one way to communicate with baby!

1. VERBAL
If you are comfortable speaking or singing out loud to your baby, go for it! The more they hear your voice, the more they will learn to associate it with comfort and security, which goes a long way in strengthening the bond once they are born.

2. EMOTIONAL
If you are not quite comfortable speaking out loud to baby, try sending them positive loving thoughts. The “feel good” hormones that these emotions create will be passed across the placenta and baby will receive those and feel the love!

3. UNSPOKEN BOND
This idea is a little less concrete, but it is the unspoken bond that you feel with your baby. You do not need to speak or intentionally send loving thoughts… you and your baby have a connection on a deeper level, and you can work on strengthening that bond before they arrive by taking time to be still and present with your baby.
